Whether it’s a midnight showing of Eraserhead, or Saturday morning cartoons, The Mayfair Theatre is the hot spot for indie entertainment in Old Ottawa South. The gorgeously maintained Spanish Revival theatre seats 325 people and features faux balconies, stained glass windows, and the original clock from the theatre’s inception in 1932. The theatre is an iconic destination for film enthusiasts; it has hosted once in a lifetime entertainment events, such as a presentation by conceptual artist and actor Crispin Glover, discussions of the notorious film The Room with director Tommy Wiseau, and a long running tradition of hosting The Rocky Horror Picture Show (complete with costumes and noise makers) every Hallowe'en!
