The Lighthouse (2019) is a film directed and produced by Robert Eggers. It stars Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson as nineteenth-century lighthouse keepers embroiled in psychological turmoil after being marooned at a remote New England outpost by a destructive storm. This scene from the film is based on maritime legend. The gull symbolizes misfortune and acts as a harbinger of death to the doomed protagonists.
